The IELTS exams evaluate the candidate’s skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through two test formats namely IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. The Academic version examination is for those candidates who wish to take admission in foreign universities or institutes whereas the General Training is for the individuals who want to go for non-academic training or to gain work experience.
The IELTS examination is jointly conducted by University of Cambridge ESOL Examination (Cambridge ESOL), British Council and IDP: IELTS Australia. Currently, over 130 countries use IELTS examination score for registration.

IELTS Eligibility and Admission Procedure:

For IELTS Examination, any individual above the age of 16 years can take the test. There is no prescribed qualification for applying this test and is practically open for everybody who wishes to appear.
Candidates, who are interested in appearing for IELTS examination, can register themselves. The Registration is done by three methods i.e. Online, Courier and Person.
For online registration, a candidate should enter the personal details mandated without any error. The online registration must be done seven days before the test. The mode of payment can is Credit card or Debit card.
For Courier registration, an individual has to download the Registration form (PDF version). After downloading the form, the candidate should review the form and attach a demand draft of test fee with the form and send it to the following address.

In some regions, candidates can register themselves personally by visiting the regional office of IELTS. The registration process can be completed by demand draft drawn in favor of “IDP EDUCATION INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED”, Payable at New Delhi.

IELTS  Preparation Exam Dates:

An individual can take the examination four times in a month. On the IELTS website, candidate needs to select the geographical location and the nearest examination centre according to their convenience with the type of examination (IELTS Academic or General Training). There are 48 dates in a year for the examination offered by IDP and British Council, going four times in a month. IELTS Exam Pattern:

The duration of IELTS Examination is 2 hours and 45 mins (165 minutes). The examination is mainly online mode. The examination is divided into four modules i.e. Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. The pattern for Academic and General Training are as follows:
